Location and Venue
The Workshop is to be held in Canberra, Australia. Venue is to be announced.
Canberra
Canberra is the national centre of government and was founded in 1913.
The name comes, appropriately, from a local Aboriginal word for 'meeting
place'. Surrounded on all sides by a wide expanse of beautiful bushland, the
city's design features sweeping vistas and wide boulevards.
The Australian National University campus is set in extensive parkland
(Parks and Wildlife) and hosts a number of Australian and exotic trees,
attractive gardens, open space and soft green lawns. Lying on the lawns to
read is a common student pastime. Visitors to the ANU enjoy all the
conveniences that come from being within close proximity to the city centre
- just a few minutes' walk away.
Canberra is a safe, clean city with friendly people. The stunning south
coast beaches and the Snowy
Mountains ski slopes are each only a two hour drive away and if the big city
lights are an attraction, then flights to Sydney take about 40 minutes. ANU
students also have great access to public institutions such as the
National Library, the
National Gallery of Australia and the
National Parliament. A range of
affordable accommodation is available on, or close to, the campus and within
walking distance to public transport and the city centre
ANU School of Accounting and Business Information Systems
National Centre for Information Systems Research (NCISR)
The National Centre for Information Systems Research (NCISR) group is
located within the School of Accounting and Business Information Systems at the Australian National University in
Canberra and has, as a primary aim, the conduct of research and consultancies
relevant to industry and business in information systems and e-commerce. The
group achieves this aim through close links with business organisations,
industry associations, government bodies, and consulting groups. The group
utilises qualitative research and case study methods for applied research
projects, in addition to underlying basic research and other research
methods.
Staff are active in research collaboration with other academic
institutions, industry and government. In particular, the College and School have strong
associations with government agencies such as the Australian Bureau of
Statistics, Commonwealth Department of Finance & Administration, The
Treasury and the Department of Defence. The College is recognised as a leader in the areas of economic
policy analysis, accounting and finance, applied statistics and econometric
modelling.
